Grocery store near Kiawah Island Golf Resort??

Hello

I am wondering if there is a fully stocked grocery store near the resort? We may need to stock up on some babyfood and I am kind of picky as to what brand we use:)! (Earth%26#39;s Best or Gerber Organic) If not, I will attempt to bring my own but I am unsure as to what the current guidelines are the airport.

Thanks

I haven%26#39;t check on baby food, but Newton Farms, right outside the gates of Kiawah is a fully stocked grocery store.

Further away, about a 20 minute drive, there is a big Piggly Wiggly at the intersection of Main Road and Maybank Highway.

For organic foods, there is a really WONDERFUL grocery store called Earth Fare, on Folly Road, between Charleston and Kiawah. If you are driving from the airport, you might want to stop there on your way to the island.

I suggest that you phone the stores to check on what brands they carry.

Thank you very much for the info! You have really been a great help in the planning process of our trip:)! I will try to call the grocery stores tommorow. We can%26#39;t wait to visit Kiawah!!

leighleigh,

Yesterday I posted on the SI boards about Piggly Wiggly%26#39;s new online shopping.

I just checked and the ';Big Pig';, located at Maybank Hwy. does carry the Gerber organic baby foods.

Here%26#39;s how Piggly Wiggly%26#39;s online shopping works.

1. Click http://www.thepig.net/OnlineStores.asp to see the Pig stores that participate.

2. Click the ';Shop Online Now'; button for Piggly Wiggly, 3575 Maybank Hwy, Johns Island, SC 29457

(843)559-5542

3. Do your shopping.

4. Reserve a pickup time ( you can order up to a week in advance).

This service does cost $5.00 but would be well worth it to not have to schlep through the store with a baby in tow:-).

If you are coming down 17, there is a new Publix at the intersection of Bohicket Rd. (this is where you would turn left to go to Kiawah, make a quick right to Publix, instead).

If you need more than just babyfood there is both a Costco and Target at the end of 526 (Mark Clark Expressway) at 17 near the Citadel Mall. Friends loved the Target (to pick up all the things they realized they%26#39;d forgotten, after spending one night on the road with their little one). These stores are about 25 miles away, so make sure you stop on your way to the island.

Have fun!
