I just book the Bay View Resort for 4 night 10/9 to 10/13. We are traveling by car from NY.
Last minute trip as we both need time to get away from our jobs. Just 2 adults.
Any tips on what not to miss?
I think we will go to the Hsrd Rock Park if it%26#39;s still open. Will it be warm enough to swim?
Any tips much appreciated.
Thanks
Judy
Help, just booked a 4night vacation to Myrtle Beach
Hard Rock Park has filed for chapter 11 and is closed until at least next spring.
Unless you are very hearty and part polar bear I wouldn%26#39;t plan on a dip in the ocean in October.
There are many good shows but I%26#39;m not sure what is still playing in October. Medeival Times, Dixie Stampede, Carolina Opry, Le Grande Cirque just to name a few. Plenty of shopping at Broadway At The Beach, Barefoot Landing and other locations.
Here are some of the dining spots that we enjoy:
Lee%26#39;s Inlet Kitchen- Murrell%26#39;s Inlet
Sara J%26#39;s- Surfside Beach
Little Pig%26#39;s BBQ- Myrtle Beach
Ville Mare (fresh Italian)- Myrtle Beach
Sea Captains House- Myrtle Beach
Here are the the links for the ones that I know of that have web pages:

Help, just booked a 4night vacation to Myrtle Beach
I would love to go in Oct. just to be able to do some of the things we don%26#39;t usually get to do because I love to spend all day on the beach. I would suggest some of the shows, dixie stampede and they Legends show are they only 2 i have been to. I would recommend legends over those 2. Just enjoy some of the great restaurants and shopping especially at Bradway, it will be perfect weather for strolling through the outside mall. Our favorite places to eat are Tony Roma%26#39;s (ribs) and Key West grill (seafood etc.). The hard rock cafe is o.k. if you%26#39;ve never been it%26#39;s an experience, usually in the busy times you can%26#39;t get in there and definatley try out Jimmy Buffet%26#39;s margaritaville.
Thanks for the ideas and links.
I have read here that HRP had closed. I guess we will just stroll on the beach instead of swimming.
What should we pack? Shorts, tank tops for the days and jeans and maybe a sweater for nights?
I hope the weather is calm when we%26#39;re there.
';Unless you are very hearty and part polar bear I wouldn%26#39;t plan on a dip in the ocean in October.';
I would certainly take exception with that......average water temps in October are low 70%26#39;s. Granted...most of who you see in the water in October are Northerners, but we find it to be very comfortable.
Actually.....we think late Sept and October is one of the best times to be in Myrtle. Warm, dry days and cool, pleasant evenings. Lot%26#39;s of hiking to do and not having to worry about bugs...humidity. No crowds!!...what else could you ask for??
I think your choice for clothing is just fine. Good chance you could get some real warm afternoons....you%26#39;ll need those shorts on the beach!
Have fun!......(3 more weeks for us!)
Gerry %26amp; Pat
Thanks.
We leave tomorrow after work. 13 1/2 hour drive.
We leave on Sunday 4 am. I can not wait. We have been in Oct. and have swam in the ocean. I checked the weather and the weather is going to be near 80. Sunday can not come soon enough.
Air temps near 80 %26amp; water temps in the 70%26#39;s...
taking a dip in those ';fridgid conditions'; qualifies for membership in the polar bear club?
I guess I%26#39;m a lifetime member then. Absolutely pack those bathing suits!
The weather has been excellent for October. I think you will be able to handle the water temps. I just looked at Crown Reef%26#39;s webcam and people are in the water and lying on the beach.
We just got back last week and if the air temps have not dropped too much DIVE IN!!! The water temps were in the 80%26#39;s the last 3 weeks in Sept in Garden City. Can%26#39;t wait for May! Sharon.
Anyone know how Divine Fish House in murrells Inlet is?
