I was planning to rent a unit at Seacrest for a week, but came across a unit at the Shorewood that still looks renovated and is about $600 less for the week. We will be traveling with our one year old. Nice accomodations are important to me. Is Seacrest worth the price difference?
Shorewood vs. Seacrest
SeaCrest is much newer, and has some amenities that Shorewood doesn%26#39;t.
Shorewood is about 26 years old, SeaCrest was built in 1999. SeaCrest has a TikiBar on premises, a hot tub, fitness center, and two pools. The size of each apartment is somewhat larger than shorewood.
you can also be assured that you get an ocean view, that may not be the case at Shorewood.
Having said that, both are among the best in the Forest Beach area.

Shorewood vs. Seacrest
I am in the same boat. many Shorewood units do look recently renovated while nicer Seacrest units go for more. What did you decide??
I have stayed at Shorewood and our unit was very nice. The Shorewood complex is great- I definitely think it is worth saving the $600 for the week. Call the owner or rental agent at Shorewood and talk to them. We had an ocean view 3 bedroom unit and it was gorgeous. There were 6 of us and we had plenty of room. When you talk to them- ask when it was renovated. $600 is quite a bit of money and I don%26#39;t think Seacrest is worth that much more $$.
We ended up going w/ the Seacrest - mostly b/c this is our first big vacation w/ our daughter who will be one. Since we%26#39;ll be spending more time in the condo that families w/ older children might (for naps, etc.), we wanted to be sure we%26#39;d get a nice unit.
I am sure you will love it! The location is great! Walk around the area and look at the other places for future reference!
Clevehts:
How was your trip? We would like to do a 2.5 week trip with our 1 year old in MArch.
Would you recommend the Sea Crest? how was location and proximity to beach and pool and park?
Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.
Loukie: Since this original post was six months ago, I would email Cleve personally. Just click on the name clevehts and you can send a message which will go into their personal email which they probably look at more frequently than this old post. Just a suggestion.
You will love the Forest Beach area of the island. A group of 14 (3 families) stayed at Egret Point in Shipyard Plantation for the March Break. We are planning on going again this March Break with 16 of us so far. The SeaCrest is on the ocean with no roads between the hotel and the ocean. It%26#39;s across the road from Coligny Plaza which is great to walk to. Rent bikes and rent a tag-a-long for your wee one. Everyone bikes, everywhere on the island. You can even see dolphins as you ride along the beach. Gorgeous.
Hope this helps, Your Fellow Ontarian!

We have stayed in Seacrest a number of times. Last summer we stayed elsewhere (not Shorewood) to save money. Next summer we are going back to Seacrest. OK I%26#39;m spoiled.
Even at Seacrest you need to check if the unit your interested in has been renovated. We have stayed in one unit that needed it. After that experience we switched rental companies and have been very happy with their renovated Seacrest units.
