Is it REALLY illegal to get a tattoo in South Carolina?????

It is not illegal, but it is regulated, which means operators must be licensed and subject to health inspections. It can also be controlled at the local level thru zoning restrictions. State law limits the minimum age of customers. I believe it%26#39;s 21 or 18 with signed parental consent, but I%26#39;m not certain. MB has several tattoo parlors.

I believe Seaboard St between Joe White Ave. and 501 has 3 or 4 tatoo parlors on the same block.

No personal experience with any of the tat parlors, but the 2007 ';Best of the Beach'; readers%26#39; survey had Elite Ink at the top of the list, with the other two finalists being Pit Bull and Hero Tattoo.

The Best of the Beach survey is conducted every year by the MB Sun News, and covers a variety of attractions, services, restaurants, etc. 2008 survey is not yet out.
