We%26#39;re traveling to Edisto Beach next week. Are there public beaches open to swimming or do we have to go to the state park?

No problem parking on the main drag (for Edisto) and walk past the beach front houses to the beach along the entire length of the beachfront. Public access paths are frequent and the parking is easy and no charge.
Also worth thinking about - there is the newly opened Botany Bay area which has beach. Part of the park system and open to the public only in the last month or so. Getting a lot of press. Should be worth your time to head there on your trip. Have fun.

Thank you so much for the beach info. It was very helpful to know access will be easy.
Bobby, can you tell me how to get to the new access for Botany Bay? I%26#39;ve been there with Capt. Ron many times and am wondering where to go now? I%26#39;m going in about 3 weeks and anxious to make that trip. I hadn%26#39;t known they were going to open it to the public--but I%26#39;m excited to get back there! Its a wonderful place. Thanks for your help.
Funny thing - we were at the island on Labor Day Weekend and we had hoped to go to Botany Bay. Ran out of time - too much time on boats, the golf course, doing shrimp on the barby, and heading to Charleston for some fun. I didn%26#39;t see any signs, but I%26#39;m sure you can find a map on the net at :

We left on Tuesday morning and you could almost sense the difference in the waves from Sunday to Monday as Hannah started to rear it%26#39;s ugly head. Still quite nice, but a little rougher.
BB--thank you SO much for the website. I%26#39;ve already checked it out and it tells me everything I need to know! I can%26#39;t wait to get there. I know what you mean about running out of time--I always do. Used to stay 2 weeks, but lately with family responsibilities I%26#39;m unable to stay that long--but I%26#39;ll take anytime there I can get.
How interesting for you to see the changes as Hanah came in! I%26#39;ve been watching the weather closely and at first it looked like Edisto might get a direct hit from her. I%26#39;ll have to keep watching--about my luck this year a big one will come up in 3 weeks!
Thanks again for the info-I%26#39;ll try to let you know how it was when I get back.
