I need to know for sure what the dates are for the bike week around memorial day for 2009. I seen on this forum they were from the 23-25. I seen on the bikers web page it%26#39;s scheduled for the 23-27. I am planning a vacation for may 26-30,haven%26#39;t decided on a place to stay yet. This is the only time I can take my summer vacation, and I really wont to go to the beach. If any one can give me info on the dates for sure %26amp; maybe which part of MB to stay in to be away from all the action I would really appreciate it.I would like to stay at a nice, clean resort that can accomadate about 14 people. We don%26#39;t wont to spend no more than $15-1600.00 for the 4 days we are planning to stay, less if possible, any suggestion%26#39;s ?Thanks in Advance, rainbows
biker week dates ?
The Atlantic Beach Bike Fest runs basically from the Wednesday before Memorial Day and ends on Memorial Day Monday. Some bikers come in for the entire week but generally Wed-Mon sees the most traffic. Those dates would be 5/21-5/25, so your dates are fine.
There are alot of nice resorts and prices are still pretty reasonable for that time period. Are you looking for 1 room to accomodate that many people? Our resort has 4 bdrm/4bth units that can sleep 12-14 in beds that does not count the sleeper sofa. If you have younger children you might like staying in the Myrtle Beach area on NORTH Ocean Blvd, you will be close to Broadway at the Beach which has lots of things to do for young and old alike.
Dunes Village, Carribean, Beach Colony, Island Vista, Caravelle.
I am located in North Myrtle Beach, not as many high rises as Myrtle Beach, more residential. North Myrtle Beach has Crescent Shores, Mar Vista, Avista
biker week dates ?
Rainbows - you should check this website for up to date info about bike week:

They explain that there are two different bike weeks in May and the Harley one takes place May 8 to 17, 2009. The other one is a totally different group called Atlantic Beach Bike Fest that will run from May 22to25,2009.
Unless you are a biker, I was told to stay out of the area where the bikers will be, because of crowds using all the streets %26amp; the restaurants, the noise and often outrageous behavior. You can see more info and photos posted by people who went to the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest on Memorial Day Weekend 2008 at this site: www.blackbeachweek.com/blackbikeweek1.html
click on upcoming events.

If you are going to be there around that time, I would not stay in the North MB area near Atlantic Beach unless you like the Biker scene. I just returned from my 3rd stay at the Marriott Ocean Watch Villas, beachfront property, in the Grand Dunes Section of Myrtle Beach. I love it there because it is always clean and beautiful and they really want to make you enjoy your stay at the beach. I own time share there but if you don%26#39;t want to rent a time share unit if available (which are 2 bedroom fully equiped villas with kitchens that sleep 6-8 each) then I would try the Marriott Hotel which is right next door. These are two beautiful properties, and they are on the pricey side but worth it for the ammenities. Maybe someone in your party has Marriott reward points to spend and you will get discounts at the Hotel. If you don%26#39;t choose Marriott I would try something south of this location - away from Atlantic Beach just for that particular time of May. All weekend you will need to travel on Kings Highway which is Route 17 to get to and from your hotel to restaurants, mini golf, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing etc., and it is crowded and slow at that time of year and you don%26#39;t need bikers to make it worse.
Myrtle Beach is great, and there is plenty of space there to suit all different people%26#39;s needs. Just check your locations carefully for that week. Good Luck.
