Christmas time in NMB

Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I post here. I have not been able to travel to MB in the last 2 years, that why. Mind you I traveled to Scotland and France last summer, but that%26#39;s a different story ;-)

As the title of the post indicates, I am planning a winter stay in NMB and wanted to inquire about what I can expect there during the Xmas period. I guess I should add that I am more specifically talking about the weather. I will be traveling from Up North (Quebec) and I need to plan appropriate attire for our trip. My web crawl has gleaned me that day-time temperatures hover around 12-15 C (50-60 F), while night-time can be a little cooler. My wife and I like to take long walks on the beach during the day. Are the prevailing winds cold or just ';cool';? The rental office girl in NMB was good enough to tell me a little about what to expect, but I guess I%26#39;d rather have other opinions. For example she mentioned that in renting a condo, I should give preference higher up (top of the building rather than bottom) but did not provide a rationale for this, nor did I think of asking why either.

In terms of shops and restaurants being open, can anyone comment? I have been there a few times in mid September and shops would close earlier than during the summer (I have been there during the summer too in the past).

So there goes. Comments, advices, etc are welcome.

Maurice

What to expect? That can very greatly....

The weather, yes it should be just as you stated but it could go into the 70s or be in 40s. The wind on the beach will most likely be out of the NNW and should be ';cool'; but not cold....again that can very..

As for the condo,I have no idea what the women was referring to.

As for shops and Rest. you will not have a problem finding them...Plenty will be open for business...Overall expect a very ';mellow'; scene, without a whole lot of hussle and bustle....

You will be very surprised to find out how many people come to the beach for the Christmas holidays.

There will be more people here than you think.

As for the weather. At night it will be very cool to cold. 40%26#39;s to 50%26#39;s. It will colder than temperature because of the breeze coming off the ocean. During the day it can be in the 70%26#39;s down to the 50%26#39;s. One year I was in shorts and t shirt the next year in sweater and long pants. Just be prepared for both. For walking on the beach be prepared for water spray from the waves. Usually rougher in the winter months. Colder weather and colder water.

Usually Broadway at the Beach, Tangier etc.. shops will close from 6-7pm. But the restaurants will be open.

A lot of times since it is colder in the winter the water is very rough. Very possible that the upper floors will put you out of any water spray range. or maybe they don%26#39;t rent the bottom floors during the winter months.

For the winter during Dec. except for a few days around Christmas all the shows are open. Then they close down in Jan.
