Myrtle Beach at Christmas

Looking to visit family here the week before Christmas.

What special events or shows are going on that we shouldn%26#39;t miss? We usually stay at BW Grand Strand (Oceanfront building)when we visit after Memorial Day. Is this still a good choice for a winter visit? This will be our first time driving to and from New York this time of year so we%26#39;re a little nervous about the impact of weather conditions. Any advice?

For the past 10 years we have gone to stay from Christmas until New Years and always enjoy it. Would not miss the Carolina Opry Christmas show and always enjoy it very much. Rocky Fretz was back last year.

Brookgreen Garden%26#39;s ';Nights of a Thousand Candles'; is a truly special event in a magical setting. It%26#39;s the one we look forward to every Christmas.

You do not have to worry about driving conditions around MB during this time of the year. Leaving NY may be a different story...lol. Average temperature for the time you are visiting is 55-60 F.

Night of a Thousand Candles is nice. However, I would make one suggestion. Go a little before dark so that you can see all the natural beauty and sculptures of Brookgreen Gardens. The candles are beautiful but if you wait until after dark you will miss a lot. I%26#39;d suggest an hour or so just before dark so you can get the best of both worlds!!

I agree withe the above post. Get there a bit early to enjoy the beauty of the park. We were there a few years ago and it is something I would love to do again. My husband and I also enjoyed walking along the beaches and seeing all the condo%26#39;s and hotel balcony%26#39;s decorated for Christmas. It was strange for us to be on a beach in shorts and see Christmas decorations coming from New Jersey! Here we are usually very warmly dressed and not on a beach in December!
