We are heading to HH for the first time this Saturday and staying at Seacrest resort. I have looked over past posts on this subject but haven%26#39;t found the answer I%26#39;m looking for. If we plan to go biking in Sea Pines, can we ride there from our condo or will that be too far? Also, I understand that there is a fee to enter Sea Pines. If we are on our bikes, is it per person? Can we drive there and then unload our bikes and ride? And finally my last question; Can you buy a weekly pass into Sea Pines and is there enough there to do that we would want to?
Thanks in advance for any info. All of you have already helped me tremendously in planning this trip.
Bike Trails
We are going back to HHI Friday.
Yes, you can ride your bikes from your Resort, but I like to bike alot...
There is no charge to get in to Sea Pines, at least there was not as of last year.We showed the Marriott Parking Permit when we drove down there for dinner and that was fine.
Personally, I would get board in Sea Pines for a week, but that is me,
Go for the day and see how you like it.
It is alot of fun riding around that area.
Have fun.
Maybe we will see you on the trails...

I do know that you have to pay the $5.00 gate pass. Not sure how they handle bikers. It would seem steep to charge the same amount for car load of people as one person on a bike.
Here%26#39;s the town%26#39;s map of their leisure trails:

So, you are leaving this Saturday. I envy you. You%26#39;ll have a great time. Wild Wing is a great place for wings. Very close to you. On Pope Avenue in the Circle Centre. As well, I would recommend buying your groceries at the BI-LO grocery store in the Circle Centre (very hard to see from road) as it is much cheaper than Piggly Wiggly. Wine is a great price there too. I would highly recommend filling out an applic for the customer card. It gives you all the deals and it never expires and you don%26#39;t have to live there to get it. They give it to you right on the spot at Customer Service.
Have fun,
D in Muskoka.
The SeaCrest is a short ride down South Forest Beach Drive to SeaPines Ocean Gate.
As for the pass. I believe you do need a pass, and will have to pay if you don%26#39;t have one.
I would suggest that if you have rented through one of our commercial agencies, that you ask them for the pass. I always got one from them when I rented outside SeaPines.
A previous poster mentioned that they got in with the Marriott pass. There are a few special exceptions to SeaPines entrance. Marriott is one of them, SeaCrest is no longer.

One thing I left out in my previous message. There are a new set of paths along Pope Avenue, which you might want to use.

It is around 1.5 - 2 miles to bike from Sea Crest down S. Forest Beach Dr. to the Sea Pines gate. Once inside Sea Pines it%26#39;s another 3 miles or so to Harbor Town or about 5 miles to get to the South Beach tip area of Sea Pines. You will love the bike trails.
I can%26#39;t answer about the gate pass for bikers. But if you%26#39;re not afraid of ';no trespassing'; signs, you can bike down the beach from Coligny Circle and enter Sea Pines through any one of many numbered access paths, but you would have to enter at a number no higher than around #48. (We have entered around access #45 and have never had a problem biking around.)One ride we have enjoyed is biking the beach to the southern end, then coming back up through Sea Pines on the bike trails. (It%26#39;s best when the tide is out.)
You could also buy the pass to drive in, then park at a public area to begin biking. The Nature Preserve on Greenwood Dr. is one very good starting place. There are also shopping areas on Lighthouse Rd. just NW of the Greenwood Circle, at Harbor Town, and also at South Beach near the southern tip where you could park and ride.
PS - an interesting off-road ride is to drive over to Pinckney Island and bike the miles nature trails there. It%26#39;s best for hybrids or mountain bikes, but I have a road bike and have done it with no problem.
I thought is was 2007 when we were in Hilton Head, but it was 2006.
That is when we were able to ride our bikes to Harbour Town.
Too bad we can%26#39;t do that anymore...
We tried to bike in there last w/e and were turned away. We were told we needed a pass to get in. The men at the gate wouldn%26#39;t tell us where to get one either. I found out later that if you ride your bikes on the beach (from Coligney or the Holiday Inn) you can cross over into Seapines past the gate and no one%26#39;s the wiser.
