Hello,
My husband and I are going on a week long vacation to Hilton Head (we are leaving for Hilton Head this Saturday.)
I%26#39;m looking for some recommendations for day trips. We are definitely going to visit Savannah and perhaps Charleston (though Charleston might be a little too far away for an enjoyable day trip). We have been to both Savannah and Charleston before and we really enjoy both of these towns.
We love sightseeing (we are not really into spending entire days just sitting on the beach.) Any recommendations for other places to explore in the area would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
day trips
We enjoyed Beaufort and it is only about 1/2 hr away. It is a charming old town with cute shops and restaurants. To fully appreciate its history- take a buggy ride. We loved it and would return to spend more time. Unfortunately, I am allergic to horses and never thought it would bother me as much as it did so we had to leave immediately after the tour.

I second Beaufort. Also- spend an afternoon exploring Daufuski Island.
Thanks guys. Beaufort and Daufuski Island both sound good.
Have you been to Bluffton? How is it?
Have never been to Bluffton - have heard Kiawah is nice also. My parents went to St. Augustines once when visiting my brother on HHI- they loved it- i don%26#39;t think it was that far but I could be wrong.
Not to burst a bubble, but Kiawah %26amp; Seabrook are both gated, private islands. You won%26#39;t have access to either unless you have reservations on the islands or are property owners.
Out that way you can still visit Angel Oak, the tea plantation, the winery (these are all in the direction of Rockville) and you can access Freshfields, the new shopping/restaurant complex, which is where the road divides to Kiawah %26amp; Seabrook.
Try a marsh kayak trip, where you might see some dolphins.
Charleston is easily doable as a day trip.
Have fun!
If you%26#39;re talking about St. Augstine, FL is approx 200 miles from HHI (about a 3 hr trip).
Thanks everyone! Great tips.
Btw, St. Augustine is very nice. Visited there this 4th of July.
