First time visitor

What to do the first week in December?

First time visitor

Watch the runners in the Kiawah Island Marathon (a Boston qualifer); Go over to James Island and see the Christmas light display; Walk the beach with a hoodie on (the juxtaposition of coats and the beach are so appealing;-}).

Kiawah will be lovely in the first week of December. Although you will probably find the air and water temps too cool for swimming, the weather should be fine for all other outdoor activities. Bicycling on the beach and on the many miles of trails is specially enjoyable in the uncrowded winter months. Kayaking on the river and creeks is also an excellent December activity.

Be sure to request the ';Fall and Winter Guide'; from the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

We pretty much do the same things in December that we do any other time of the year, my husband does cut back on ocean time and just gets his feet wet.

That said, as Villa stated, biking is wonderful, we always take our kayaks, the beaches on Kiawah are never crowded, but even less so in December. We were there once watching the runners (makes me feel soooo guilty and un-fit!!!).

You may see more gators in traveling around the island, they will come out of the water in the mornings to sun themselves (I got a couple of great pics when we were there just last week).

We%26#39;re headed back in December, can%26#39;t wait!!!
