My fiance and I are going to be leaving this weekend (10/4) to go to MB. We are going to be driving 14 hours from NY!! We%26#39;re staying at the Dunes Village Resort. I have been reading these message boards and I%26#39;m wondering if we should be worried about a few things...
Is there a really a shortage of gas around there? I%26#39;m not worried about the price....gas is a lot higher up here so it will probably be cheaper than what we%26#39;re used to.
Does anyone know if the beach at my hotel will be open because of that beach renourishment project?
Other than that, I don%26#39;t have any other worries. This will be my first time there and I%26#39;m wondering if anyone can give me any advice on what to do, where to eat, and entertainment?
Thanks!
Going to MB this weekend!
I think most of the panic has been around the Charlotte area. Shouldn%26#39;t be any problem the direction you will be driving in from.
You will be in north end of Myrtle Beach. Beach re-nourishment is in Cresent Beach section of North Myrtle Beach. Seperate city from Myrtle Beach. Five-ten miles north of where you will be.
Going to MB this weekend!
How exciting!! I am leaving next weekend and I am so excited. You will have a good time. Try out Carolina Roadhouse. Be sure to make a trip to Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. If you want to make a day trip go to Charleston. It also is nice. Have fun.
Although a little jealous, I am excited for you:-) Have a safe trip and a fantastic time!
Hey--
My wife and I are going as well. We have not heard of any gas shortages. In fact as of OCT 2, 2008 PRICES ARE going down in the SE.
For entertainment try Crocadile Rocks at Broadway At The Beach.
Restaurants= Carolina Roadhouse,House Of Blues,Chestnut Hill, Hamburger Joes and Landrys.
On restaurant.com you can get coupons for Thorneys,Mayors House and Original Benjamins.
Check Sun News for restaurant coupons.
Dunes Village is in a great area and you should have no trouble with beach renourishment.
Trip to Murrells Inlet would be worth the ride.
No worries about gas for you - even where I live, in Charlotte NC, gas is getting easier to access now (thank goodness).
Looks like you got a lot of great suggestions on here! My husband went down for the weekend with a bunch of his buddies for a golf outing. You should have terrific weather too.
Have fun!!
