It has been several years since I have been in Myrtle Beach but I am considering visiting this summer in July or August. I can%26#39;t believe how expensive the condo rentals have become but then everying has gone up. I understand MB had a rough season this year due to the gas price increases. But I digress:
I am looking for a 2 br, 2bath, ocean front condo with all amenities. I will have a 2 year old with me. Where should I look? When do places start booking for 2009? Most show no availability because presumably they dont have the new prices in their computer.

I would check into renting directly from an owner at Myrtle Beach REsort. We stayed there this past year and we had 3 kids with us. They all had a wonderful time. If you want, private message me and I can give you more info.

AND..............some vrbo owners give this year%26#39;s price if you are willing to book so far in advance. We are all set for Perdido Key in April %26#39;09 with a vrbo unit!
We are rerenting the same unit next year that we rented this past August. We also found our condo on vrbo.com. Or maybe it was vacationrentals.com. I think some people use both those sites to advertise their condos. Because we booked early, we also got last year%26#39;s rate.
2009 rates are generally available by the end of October. You can also call the hotel/condo directly and ask for their rate. Some VRBO owners will give you their rate now but others are holding out to see what the competition will be charging.
I would recommend you stay in the north myrtle beach section, we love it htere and have been staying there since having kids, it%26#39;s just a little more family oriented and there are more condo type rentals in that area.
We stay in the crescent beach section because it is very close to everything only a block or 2 from barefoot landing and a quick drive to everything else. We have had good luck staying at the crescent beach towers 1%26amp; 2. They are a smaller complex so it%26#39;s not to crowded even this year we were there on the 4th of july and next door to us was Baywatch and it is so big and crowded you couldn%26#39;t find a place to sit on the beach. All units are individually owned and there are a couple of different rental agencies we have used condo-world and north shore realty. I prefer going through an agency because if you have a problem i know i can talk to someone and get it handled. This year one of the toilets was stopped up and a maintence man was there within 20 minutes.

I have already booked our vacation for 2009, at dunes village,I think you will like the water park they have, it gets good reviews, so this might be worth checking on, I called the resort directly and booked for next year, good luck.
