We%26#39;ve been visiting Hilton Head on and off for over 20 years. After driving through Hanna last Saturday, we arrived to sunny and warm weather. Not much on our agenda for the week, except trying different restaurants. And we were not disappointed. The Studio: excellent food and reasonable wine prices. The waiter was new, and a bit stiff. Kwizene- not sure what to expect when we walked in to a nearly deserted restaurant. But good, imaginative food and priced right for the quality. Michael Anthony%26#39;s: Excellent italian food. The veal medallions stuffed with sausage and spinach in a rich sauce was perfect. The tuna carpaccio, one of the appetizer specials was amazing. The only negative was I thought the wine prices were high, with very few bottles priced below $40. Service by Josh was attentive and friendly. The best of the week was at Sunset Grille. The views alone would have been enough, but the creative and unique menu items were so good. The shrimp and grits had a wonderful depth of flavor, as did the lamb shank- rich and satisfying. The service was friendly and down to earth. The only restaurant we won%26#39;t be going back to is Marley%26#39;s. While the happy hour drink and food prices make for a good happy hour, the main courses were disappointing. Cheaper than the other restaurants, but still not worth a visit.
We did venture off island to explore Beaufort, about 45 minutes away. A very nice carriage tour, learning about the towns interesting history. Followed by a good, cheap lunch at Nippy%26#39;s.
Time to head back to Maryland and weeks of dieting. September is a great time to visit, and we%26#39;ll be back.

PS: Glad you mentioned Marley%26#39;s because it%26#39;s a place we%26#39;ve meant to go to but never made it.
Trip Report- a week of great restaurants
I%26#39;m gonna join you in the thumbs up for Sunset Grill and my favorite dish there is also ';Shrimp and grits';
Thanks for the report, it is very helpful.
We are newbies going to Hilton Head for a week in October and the restaurant reccos are terrific.
vineyard: Here%26#39;s a link to the early bird dining options on Hilton Head. This is a great site to explore because it shows happy hour and entertainment options as well.

Here%26#39;s a map of the restaurants. I would highly recommend printing this out, or as soon as you get to Hilton Head, go the Welcome Centre and pick up the Dining Guide there.

Have a great time.

Thanks D!
These are great links, have bookmarked the early bird one and printed out the map, although I will probably go to the Visitor Center and get one there as well (the printing is kind of small for my old eyes) if the Marriott timeshare we are staying in does not have this kind of info onsite.
Really looking forward to our trip.
