Another Directions Question

Where are you going as final destination? If going very far south on 17 you might want to take route 31 and bypass numerous stop lights and heavy traffic.

Another Directions Question

I am going to NMB

I%26#39;m confused...the two sets of directions you posted appear to be the same route, so I%26#39;m not sure what you%26#39;re asking.

They are simliar but different and according to the websites one is a hour shorter driving time. I am just wondering which one of the 2 is better for going to NMB.

Both sets of directions run you into NMB. Rt 9 brings you into north end of NMB. Can%26#39;t miss it

There is a ten block difference in the final couple of steps of both sets of directions.

What exactly is the location of rental?

The first set of directions have you going in on Sea Mountain Highway. Rt 9 hits Rt 17. Soon as you cross bridge over inter coastal waterway you%26#39;ll see Sea Mountian exit veering off to right.

Out Sea Mountain and then left on Ocean Blvd. That would put you into Cherry Grove.

The second set has you running another ten blocks south on Rt 17 to 8th Ave north. Then out to beach before turning left. That still has you heading into Cherry Grove but the ten blocks south and then ten blocks north on Ocean Blvd would add several minutes to that set of directions.

Overall I wouldn%26#39;t worry a whole lot about any difference in drive times. Too many varibles to figure into it. Time of day, day of week, month of year. Traffic, weather, construction, bio-breaks...

The same person can run the same route five times and won%26#39;t have same drive time two trips in a row. Five people run the same route you%26#39;ll have five different times.

There isn%26#39;t any bad route. All depends on driving habits.

We%26#39;ve tried several different routes through the years. Shortest milage to longest. Very little differnce in our drive times with any of the routes. Biggest difference we notice is how tired we are after the drive. The longer route seems/feels easier and we%26#39;re not half as tired as when we run the shorter ones.

So the directions are exactly the same up to the last 3 miles or so, yet there%26#39;s supposedly a 1 hour difference? Something%26#39;s not right.

Pop makes a good point. There are numerous possible routes, and the difference in any of them is probably no more than 15 minutes. For North Myrtle, the fastest route for you would be to follow the NC 130/NC 904 route. Check out user andmarnclt%26#39;s post on this thread: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g54359-i25-k224868鈥?/a>

He has it right--trust me, I know. I grew up in Laurinburg, and in my almost 50 years I%26#39;ve made the trip many, many times using every possible route.

As I said above, follow your directions to Laurinburg, where you%26#39;ll take the US 15-501 South exit. Follow about 18 miles or so to Rowland, NC, and keep going straight through town onto NC 130. About two miles or so outside of Rowland you%26#39;ll cross the I-95 intersection, where you%26#39;ll pick up andmarnclt%26#39;s directions. Have a safe trip!

If this is your first long trip and feel overwelmed with all the route changes and unfamilier roads, you might consider the longer route.

Still a lot of people run I 77 all the way to Columbia and then across I 20.

We do that with one small wrinkle. We jump off at Ridgeway and run Rt 34 down to Lugoff.

At Florence we follow ';Beach Traffic'; signs. North on I 95 to exit 170. Rt 327 over to Rt 76. Rt 76 to Marion where you pick up Rt 501.

Rt 501 to Aynor where you hit Rt 22. Rt 22 to Rt 31. Rt 31 to Rt 9. Not half as confusing as it sounds. 50 miles longer than shortest route. Drive time about the same because of more constant average mph. But it%26#39;s an easy, stress free trip. Not as tired at the end.

If interested I can send you more detailed directions.

Thanks all for your imput. I guess I got confused because two differenet websites gave me very similar directions with a hour drive time difference. I guess the website are incorrect in drive time.
