This is an odd post. A group of approximately 30 women (age range 25-40ish) are planning to meet in Charleston (most have never met each other) from different cities across the US. Because none of us have ever been to the area, we don%26#39;t know where the best area to stay would be. We are unsure of a time frame too - probably either May or September of %26#39;09.
We%26#39;d like to be able to take a cab from the airport to the hotel we choose and not need a car for the entire weekend. We want to see the most we can in the weekend and want a variety of things to do. Because of the variety of ages, lifestyles and interests of these women, we%26#39;d like to be able to please everyone the best we can but do realize not everyone will be happy with what we choose.
Is there anywhere like this in Charleston? We%26#39;d need approximately 15 room in the same hotel also.

THen you probably want to stay downtown - Mills House would be great.
Charleston is the city of variety - history, architecture, music, food, theater, plantations, tours, beach, water sports, science, outdoor sports, etc.
May is a great time but it will be busy with the Spoleto Festival (though that would be an excellent time for your guests who love the arts).
September can be iffy as the early part can be hot and humid and the latter part can be like today (oddly windy and very cool). Or you could be looking at the National Hurricane Center every 6 hours for updates on a tropical storm offshore.
What an exciting trip! Charleston is an EXCELLENT choice if you%26#39;re trying to give people variety without the hassle of a big city. (Charleston is laughably easy to get around and city activities are 10-15 minutes from ';country'; activities and all of our outdoor sports).
We%26#39;re happy to answer any questions - and Welcome to Charleston!
Girls Group Weekend
Well, we%26#39;ve decided on October of 2009. I%26#39;ve given my other ';planners'; the information that you supplied me. Thanks! Hopefully we don%26#39;t have issues with hurricanes!
October should NOT be a problem - and it%26#39;s a wonderful time to be here! Good choice.
