We%26#39;re coming to Charleston Wed 9/17 and may head to the beach at Isle of Palms straight from the airport - weather permitting! Any recommendations for a restaurant on the way from the airport to Isle of Palms? Any delis to pick up something to take to the beach? Or restaurants with view of ocean? Thank you for all the great Charleston information in previous posts.
Lunch Isle of Palms
Since you%26#39;re going to the Isle of Palms from the airport, you%26#39;ll be passing by Mt. Pleasant Towne Center. When you exit 526, turn left and in a moment or two you%26#39;ll be near Lowe%26#39;s. Near the Lowe%26#39;s you%26#39;ll find: Mama Fu%26#39;s, Five Guys Burgers. Both are good, fast, and reasonable IMHO.
If those don%26#39;t appeal to you, there%26#39;s an Atlanta Bread Company on the other end of the shopping center (near the Barnes and Noble) - they have excellent, healthy sandwiches, salads, and soups, and have good baked items as well.
There is a Jersey Mike%26#39;s Sub place and Shane%26#39;s Rib Shack and a Chinese take out called Great Wall a little closer to the IOP Connector in the BiLo grocery store area. (Jersey Mike%26#39;s is adjacent to but not in that center).
None of those places will take you out of your way and make you lose precious vacation time!
If that%26#39;s not enough selection, let us know as there are more choices.
Welcome!
Lunch Isle of Palms
Thanks for interpreting that we don%26#39;t want to loose precious vacation time hunting for a place to eat lunch while on the road. Forgot to mention that we like local places - any other suggestions with that in mind? Thanks
OK - Local food? Now I switch my answer to Gullah Cuisine. At lunchtime they have a large buffet of local favorites - buffets are fast - or you can order different items off the menu if you%26#39;re not into buffets (but it%26#39;ll take a few minutes longer). Real southern food like collards and various types of rices and chickens - fried and otherwise (etc etc)
To get there: Take the ';Georgetown/Mt. Pleasant'; exit off 526. At the traffic light (which is Hwy 17) turn left but stay in the right lane as you are going to make a pretty quick right (single story, unassuming building).
Otherwise, you can go a little out of your way by going to the Isle of Palms, turn right. Go about a mile or 2 until the road comes to a ';T';; turn left; make a right at the stop sign and you%26#39;ll be at Poe%26#39;s Tavern (a great local place for hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, nachos, etc). You%26#39;d want to go there anyway so why not now! (Esp if it%26#39;s nice and you can eat outside!)
Enjoy!!!
Have lunch on the oceanfront deck at The Banana Cabana Cafe on Isle of Palms. Great view and food.
