I will be visiting Myrtle Beach but I am unsure what part of the beach to stay at.
North Myrtle Beach or
South Myrtle Beach
Any suggestions what part is more exciting and more things to do?
undecided, South or North
Whether you stay in south Myrtle or North Myrtle or the center of Myrtle Beach, you will need a car to get to attractions. Will you have kids with you? Young or teenagers?
undecided, South or North
What time of year and what kind of activities would you be looking for?
What is known as ';Myrtle Beach'; is really 50 mile stretch of coastline. City of Myrtle beach is pretty much in the center of it all.
North Myrtle Beach is city ten miles north of MB. NMB is made up of four beach sections.
Below that is Shore Drive/Lakeshore area. Another beach section in between NMB and MB.
Then Myrtle Beach. North end of MB is less congested and upscale than on down in town.
South of MB is Surfside and Garden City beaches. Very similar to NMB area.
Summertime wanting to be on beach I%26#39;d shoot for NMB or the two beaches south of MB.
Winter/offseason. You%26#39;ll be doing more attractions/shopping than beach. I%26#39;d look at Myrtle Beach.
Nightclubs.....Most are in Myrtle Beach.
If beach isn%26#39;t that important you could look at something near Broadway At The Beach. Could walk to clubs and restuarants.
We almost always stay in north myrtle beach, we just like it better because it seems quieter and more family oriented. Plus since having kids we need a condo instead of a hotel and majority of the condos are in north mb. We stay in the crescent beach section which is very close to everything. It is right across the highway to Barefoot landing and only a 10 minute drive to braodway at the beach. In my opinion some of the hotels/condos are nicer in north mb because they are newer, they are always building new things in this area. I agree you will need to drive places regardless where you stay, the are is very big and you will probably want to visit both cities during your stay. There is not many restaurants, stores, or entertainment on the beach side just hotels and condos. Just 1 big block over is Kings highway where most things are located and this road takes you from city to city.
This year we used www.condo-world.com and stayed at crescent towers.
I will be going at the end of October of this year. I was planning on being on the beach but from the sound of it, it seems like it might be too cold to go on the beach at that time.
It is just me and my boyfriend going, and we do not have any kids. I was looking more of hanging out at the beach, maybe some unique attractions that myrtle beach has to offer as well as possible clubbing and other fun things to do.
Maybe Breakers or Dayton House would be good location. About as central location as you%26#39;ll get. Oceanfront.
Few blocks out to Broadway At The Beach. Dining, shopping and clubs.
1/2-3/4 hour south to Murrell%26#39;s Inlet. State Parks, dining, Brookgreen Gardens.
About the same north for NMB, Little River and Calabash. Barefoot Landing, Callahan%26#39;s.....
What is the weather like around October 20th?
Could I be able to wear a t-shirt and shorts?
and is it possible to get a tan at the beach?
I once rented a condo on Topsail Island during late October. I setup my beach chair, tanned and went swimming in the ocean every day... but I was ALONE. You%26#39;ll be able to do all those things as long as you can tolerate strange glances from people dressed head to toe including light jackets.
We have been in October and was swimming in the ocean. Island Vista is in a good location and is very nice.
Unless we are having some unusual weather, you should be able to lay on the beach or by the pool. October is still very nice during the day as is most of November.
