There are a couple of factors that would help me make a better recommendation, such as will your friends have a car and what time of year will they be in Charleston. However, with those still questions in my head, I recommend staying downtown in the historic district. With only three days, you could never leave downtown and still not be bored. Even if you plan on driving out to the beach one day, I would stay downtown on a trip this short.

I agree w/KYB. Carriage rides run all day form near Anson and Market.

If they MUST stay near the beach, there are a few options - one I%26#39;d recommend is Shem Creek Inn in Mt. Pleasant (www.shemcreekinn.com) (especially if they want to party at night and not have to drive)
