12 yr old skatebording dude %26amp; his Mom seek upscale resort/hotel WITH WIFI that has both great INDOOR %26amp; outdoor pools, nice beach, ideally oceanfront, in walking distance of activities (game arcades, mini golf, best restuarants, spa, shopping, etc). Our wishes:
MINE: Free WIFI %26amp; First Class, Upscale, 4+Star Hotel, good restaurants, room service, Spa, newer well-appointed suite w/ocean front/view, great pools %26amp; within walking distance (or short drive) of son%26#39;s stuff (game arcades, skate park, shopping, best mini golfs etc).
HIS: BEST INDOOR %26amp; outdoor pools, WiFi, swimming beach, game arcades, skate park, other kids to hang with, in-room plasma tvs that are XBOX 360 COMPATIBLE, not alot of old farts, %26amp; places nearby he can safely walk to in daytime alone.
Does any such place exist in MB? We%26#39;ve never been.
HELP US PLEASE!!! Thanks to all!
Best indoor pool %26amp; oceanfront resort w/12 yr old son %26amp; mom?
Free WIFI in an upscale hotel hardly exists anywhere but you will be able to have WIFI for a fee. There are lots of excellent restaurants in Myrtle Beach so you%26#39;ll have no trouble with that wish. Sounds like Marriott%26#39;s OceanWatch Villas at Grande Dunes would be a good choice for you. Keep in mind much depends upon when you are planning to visit. Finding other kids your son%26#39;s age will be dependent upon your time frame.
There are other great resorts in Myrtle Beach as well. Royale Palms (part of Hilton) and within the Kingston Plantation community is another good choice. Also Margate in Kingston.
Kingston has plenty of outdoor pools but only one indoor pool that is part of their Health and Fitness Center. Very nice pool but different from many other facilities within Myrtle Beach.
There is a skate park in Myrtle Beach:
Matt Hughes Skateboard Park
33rd Ave. North at the Doug Shaw Stadium Parking Lot
Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday: 3:00 p.m. 鈥?9:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 1:00 p.m. 鈥?9:00 p.m.
Be prepared to do some driving in Myrtle Beach. Nothing is terribly far away or difficult to get to but a car is definitely a must to get to everything you will want to see.
As far as the XBOX compatibility that is quite possible.
You may also want to check out VRBO.com to rent a condo or townhouse directly from an owner. They often have more amenities than the traditional hotels.

Is Kingston Plantation that nice (4 star nice)?
I honestly don%26#39;t think that what you%26#39;re looking for exists in Myrtle Beach. There are a couple 4+ star hotels, Marriott Grande Dunes is oceanfront with a spa and fabulous pools and they have WIFI but it%26#39;s certainly not free. While it is not in walking distance of anything really, it is fairly centrally located. The only other really upscale hotel would be the Marina Inn and it%26#39;s not oceanfront and again not walking distance of anything.
There are alot of really nice places here in Myrtle Beach and I know people are recommending different condos and VRBO but I really don%26#39;t think you would find the level of service you are looking for with a condo. One more note, the amount of ';old farts'; anywhere is going to depend on what time of year you visit. Also Myrtle Beach is very spread out and it would be impossible to find a place within walking distance of all attractions.
