If you are going to Compass Cove Myrtle beach beware of the very dirty pools. My nephew threw up on the side of one of the pools, I went to tell the front desk and sat near the area to make sure no one walked in it. No one ever came to clean it, no one cared. I told the people at the bar, they said they could give me a towl. His throw up ended up back in the pool, we tried to wash it off ourselves after waiting a half hour and asking yet again to have someone sent out. THey said they could not get a hold of housekeeping, they looked clueless as who was in charge of the pools. Stay away from this place unless you want to walk away with a sickness. We tried to stay at the beach the rest of the week, which was no better. There are cigarette butts and trash all over the beach. Plus the lifeguards put out unbrellas infront of your chairs block your view and creat a saftey hazard since they block your view from seeing where your kids are. youa are not permitted to sit infront of there chairs, and they charge you about $30 a day to sit in them. If you want a clean nice vacation do not go to this beach of resort....We stayed at obx the year before it was like paradise compaired to this dirty place. oh did I mention all of the cockroaches we saw on the boardwalk???
Myrtle Beach Compass Cove Dirty pools dirty beach!
I didn%26#39;t know there was a boardwalk in MB.
Myrtle Beach Compass Cove Dirty pools dirty beach!
We were there the same week. The beach was very clean. I honestly only saw 2 or 3 cigarette butts... No big deal... Smokers should clean up after themselves. Our pools were clean and I don%26#39;t know what life guard you had but we were set up in front of the beach chairs and umbrellas often. I sat in between the chairs on the days the waves came up higher. Just about every beach I%26#39;ve been to they set up chairs and umbrellas that guests can rent. I had a perfect view of the ocean from behind those umbrellas too. I guess it%26#39;s all perspective. If you go with a negative attitude your vacation will not be a positive experience. The vomit thing should have been taken care of... The hotel did fail on that part... Did you warn other swimmers? I hope you have a better vacation next time.
Heres my take on this. You should have taken the initiative to clean up your nephews vomit.Sometimes staff are not available instantly as they might be doing other jobs or at lunch.
As far as sitting behind umbrellas nothing says you cannot put up your chairs in front of the line of umbrellas. You just cant put another umbrella in front of the line. But where we go the lifeguard said if you make arrangements with him the day before he would save a place if you wanted to set up an umbrella.
I have never considered the beach where we go as being dirty and we have been going there for about 15 years.
The only time I have ever been asked to move is if you are in front of the lifeguard%26#39;s stand or path to run to the water if they need to. Surely, you can understand that. No one has never said anything about sitting in front of their chairs. This seems to be just a picky lifeguard who wants to sell their chairs. The only time I have ever seen the beach even the least bit dirty is after a big storm and they have not had time to clean it up. I think your experience with the beach is every unusual. As far as the pool thing, I don%26#39;t know what would be the way they would handle it. I%26#39;m sure this happens all the time at places. It is a public place and not everyone is clean as you or I might be. I%26#39;m curious too about the boardwalk. I did not know Myrtle Beach had a boardwalk. Are you talking about the side walk? Were they in your room? I see all kinds of insects outside especially after a storm or if the humidity is really high. It has been very dry in the carolinas this year and there has been many more, nats, flies, roaches and bugs everywhere. It is not limited to one area. Also after the big fires on the coast of North Carolina in June, a lot of the bugs went elsewhere. I%26#39;m only concerned if they are in my room. The outer banks are nice but some of us cannot afford the higher rates.
I don%26#39;t understand why you didn%26#39;t clean up the vomit yourself??? what makes you think housekeeping wanted to do it???? Shame on you
I can%26#39;t understand why people are attacking this poster. I own a pool. If someone threw up, I would want to disinfect the area. I would tend to think the average person on vacation would not have that with them. I view this person as thinking of others and not slack for not taking care of it herself!
I think you should have attempted to clean it up yourself while it was still on the side of pool. I agree that the hotel failed by no one coming to clean/disinfect the area but you (or the childs parents) should have at least made an attempt to clean it yourself before going to get someone. I have always cleaned up after my kids, I feel that is the parent%26#39;s responsibility. I have stayed at Compass Cove twice and it has been a pleasant stay both times, no problems with dirty pools/beach, etc.
