I%26#39;m getting ready to make our reservations for dinner for New Year%26#39;s Eve (we%26#39;ll be in Charleston from 12/29 until the 1st). Any suggestions?
New Year's Eve DinnerMagnolias on East Bay st.
New Year's Eve DinnerI would also consider Oak, McCrady%26#39;s, Peninsula Grill, Carolina%26#39;s - especially if you want seafood.
I ate at magnolia%26#39;s recently - wasn%26#39;t up tp past performances.
When in town try Cru Cafe for lunch, the food is unique and truly wonderful.
I ate at Magnolias twice this weekend just gone.
The food and service were excellent. They have a nice bar slightly elevated where you can sit and have cocktails/apperitifs.
We also stayed at the Mills House and they were advertising a New Years Eve Celebration 7 course dinner with wines, music etc. It wasn%26#39;t cheap but it sounded very good.
Try www.millshouse.com There may be details on their website or give them a ring.
I will second Cru Cafe, we had a lovely informal meal there with friends.
Charleston will be a fabulous place to spend New Year.
I like the party at the Omni. In years past that is where I used to go.
Al, you and most of us Charlestonians still call it the Omni, even though it hasn%26#39;t been that in years. It%26#39;s now called Charleston Place, and is part of the Orient-Express Hotels chain.
Possible the nicest hotel in Charleston and very conveniently located.
Floski,
I have to confess I am a D... Yankee, I have lived here since 1989, before Hugo and the Snow. It will always be the Omni to me, although I should call it by Charleston Place when I am telling someone else what to look for.
Thanks for the suggestions. We decided to go with the second seating at the Charleston Grill. We%26#39;re staying at Mills, but I don%26#39;t drink (and my husband doesn%26#39;t dance) so the wine and dancing are kinda lost on us. We were in Charleston for our anniversary in October and enjoyed our dinner at the Grill very much, so we decided to go back. We had dinner at Magnolias last trip, so my husband wanted to try High Cotton this trip. Happy Holidays to all!
